DIY – Hibiscus & Fuller’s Earth Face Pack to Brighten Dull Skin | Chronic Illness Skincare [with video]

DIY - Hibiscus & Fuller's Earth Face Pack to Brighten Dull Skin | Chronic Illness Skincare [with video]

I absolutely love this DIY hibiscus and fuller’s earth face mask – why? Because it instantly brightens up any dullness on my face – especially when I have had a few days of intense pain from endometriosis or fibromyalgia or Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Pain can really suck out your energy and this face mask helps me to feel better. It’s a small bit of self-care that goes a very long way.

As always, before I share the recipe…

Please remember that I am not a certified dermatologist or a medical professional in any capacity. I am a patient who deals with various medical conditions and I just wanna share what has worked for me. It’s always best to check with a medical professional before you decide to try anything I share. Also, a lot of these DIY recipes are things my mum has taught me about skin care and hair care and I am just trying to pass that on.

Just like my last skincare video, there are four ingredients that go into this recipe.
There are three dry ingredients that we will mix up properly first.

The first is the magical hibiscus powder – its anti-ageing because it helps maintain the elastin of the skin. It cleanses quite effectively which helps to control acne without drying the skin.

So I’m going to take 1 teaspoon of it.

The next is fuller’s earth – 1 teaspoon of this as well… It’s an absorbent clay and as I explained in an earlier video, whenever using clays or charcoal in your DIY recipes, please do not use metal spoons as they tend to react by reducing the clay’s healing properties.

Okay, now let me explain about fuller’s earth – this helps to get rid of acne. It’s a great skin cleanser as well as it has the ability to absorb oils from clogged pores. Its’ anti-inflammatory properties help to reduce swelling and pain.

The third and last dry ingredient is rose tea powder. I have rose tea at home so I’ve ground the rose tea into a powder form – it’s not very finely ground, so it does become a gentle exfoliator plus, powdered rose has anti-bacterial properties and helps maintain the PH balance of the skin, treat acne, eczema and other conditions that irritate the skin. It also evens out the skin tone. And we just need 1/2 a teaspoon of it.

Mix the dry ingredients properly and then we add 4 teaspoons of water to help create a nice paste-like consistency.

Wash your face and apply this evenly on the neck and face avoiding the area under your eyes and the eyes – of course.

I’m gonna apply this to my hand to show you what the consistency should be like.

Now some days, if I have a cut or something then this does sting a bit with these ingredients, but it eventually calms down and in fact soothes it so that I can easily keep it on for 15 to 20 minutes or till it’s almost dry.

Personally, I can’t let face masks dry 100% because of my fibromyalgia and trigeminal neuralgia, the tugging sensation has at times – not all the time, but it has triggered skin pain which gets over as soon as I wash it off… so once this is almost dry.

I gently rub it off, I gently rub off the mask with a dry hand and once it’s flaked off, I splash cool water on my face and wash off the remaining bits quite easily.

I usually see an instant brightening in complexion, slightly tighter skin – you can feel the tug and an improved even tone over time if you do this consistently.

Quick Ingredients Recap:
Hibiscus powder: 1 tsp
Fuller’s Earth (Multani Mitti): 1 tsp
Rose Tea Powder: 1/2 tsp
Water: 4 tsp

So this is a really nice and easy weekly four ingredient mask – something my mum and I absolutely love.
